STRENGTH

“The ability of your neuromuscular system to produce force against an external resistance”
Strength training is the foundational quality from which all other physical attributes are developed, so it should be the base of your training
OUR PHILOSOPHY
STRENGTH
Why Get Stronger?
Strength is the foundational quality from which all other physical attributes are developed (power, speed, agility). It underpins athletic performance, so it is our signature class and most regular class on our timetable.

Whatever level you’re training at, strength should be a significant part of your plan. For Level One members, strength is the best way to improve your joint health and build muscle, which in turn increases your metabolism, helps you maintain movement quality and movement ability as you age, and leads to performance gains.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
Our Strength Plan
Strength runs in 10 week blocks at Phase Five. Eight weeks of strength training on a carefully curated plan that combines compound barbell lifts with accessory work to ensure you’re getting stronger in a balanced and efficient way. We then take a de load week to work on mobility, active recovery and technique refinement without load before three rep max testing in the final week of the 10 week cycle.

Progressive overload is the defining principle of S&C, so is the main focus of our strength classes. Small, consistent increases in weight that compound into long term meaningful strength changes.
BEFORE YOU BEGIN
Understanding your needs.
Every member starts with a one-to-one goal-setting session. We discuss your lifestyle, how you want to feel and what you want to achieve.

You will then be taken through a physical assessment using VALD forceplates. This is elite sports technology that we use to analyse strength, power, asymmetry and more.

ForceDecks automatically detects and assesses over 20 different movements, from squats to jumps and from isometric strength to functional tests, giving us a full and detailed picture of how your body performs.

This allows your coach to identify strengths, biases and gaps, and build a training timetable around what you actually need - including nutrition planning and lifestyle support where relevant.
