KATE WHAPPLES
Kate is the co-founder and Head Coach of Phase Five and the driving force behind our performance philosophy.
With two S&C degrees and a decade of experience coaching elite athletes, Kate knows what true performance demands. This is why structure, discipline, and consistency are at the heart of what we deliver. Her coaching career has taken her from working with top-tier athletes chasing championship titles to helping everyday people unlock their full physical potential.
Now, she’s bringing that same elite-level training methodology to the heart of Ancoats. At Phase Five, Kate has built a system where science meets support, combining evidence-based Strength & Conditioning with personal accountability and a genuine team culture.
Her mission is simple: to help every member train with intent, perform with confidence, and realise what they are truly capable of.
Because at Phase Five, performance isn’t just for athletes, it’s for everyone willing to put in the work.

LAUREN ADAMS
Lauren holds both an undergraduate and masters degree in Sport Science and brings a thoughtful, supportive approach to coaching. With a particular focus on women’s health, she is dedicated to helping members build confidence, strength, and resilience.
A seasoned HYROX coach, Lauren has extensive experience leading our HYROX competition teams, combining her expertise in performance training with a passion for helping athletes reach their goals in a supportive and motivating environment.

Lauren is a caring, highly knowledgeable coach with a focus on women’s health and performance. With extensive HYROX experience, she leads our competition teams while helping all members build strength, confidence, and resilience.

TYPHAINE MILLIERE
Typh is a knowledgeable and versatile coach with over 15 years of training experience in weightlifting, grappling and body weight movement. Holding a Level 3 Personal Training qualification, she combines technical expertise with a supportive, encouraging approach, helping members of all levels improve strength, skill, and confidence. Typh also has a wealth of knowledge about how to power your training through a plant based diet.
Passionate about skill development, Typh excels at guiding athletes of all levels, providing encouragement, technique guidance, and motivation in every session.

HARRY DEVINE
Harry is a highly knowledgeable coach with a Physiotherapy Degree and Personal Training qualifications, specializing in safe and effective strength training. He focuses on helping members move better, lift smarter, and stay injury-free, combining his expertise in human movement with practical coaching experience.
